*For anyone out there who doesn’t know what May Day is, it is celebrated on May 1st. There seems to be many different traditions and stories, but just about all of them use flowers. The popular tradition we know is to hang a cone or container of spring flowers on your friend’s doorknob. However, you have to sneak away before they see you because if you get caught, you are supposed to get a kiss.

The 135th year of the Kentucky Derby horse race will be held Saturday, May 2nd in Louisville, Kentucky. The race is known in the United States as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” and is also called “The Run for the Roses” for the blanket of 554 roses draped over the winner. People go to enjoy the race but also to gaze at the elaborately decorated hats that racegoers wear.

 This weekend is the opening night of Peter Pan!! We have all worked so hard and I’m so excited for The Cupcakes, my parents, and everyone else to come see it. The “Peter” in our play is actually a girl–they had to choose someone small so they could “fly” on stage–what fun! Everyone at the high school has been so nice to me and high school sounds like our middle school except for more classes and a lot more people (and I love the way everybody dresses!).
