Spotlight on YOU
Return to Community
Hey Cupcakes! Something BIG is going to be happening in a few short weeks that EVERYONE is going to be talking about…know what it is? The election for the President of the United States of America. What do YOU know about it?
******************************************************************************************
Do you know the two men that are campaigning for President? Do you know what party they represent? We’re not talking a birthday party, silly! John McCain is from the Republican party and Barack Obama is a Democrat. If you’re confused about what all that means–ask mom or dad at dinner tonight–it will make a great table topic and will allow you to hear your parent’s point of view on the subject.
******************************************************************************************
Still have questions? Ask a teacher at school and listen to the discussion that follows. Politics is a REAL conversation starter! The Cupcakes Club, bloggers on the internet, newspapers, and television will ALL be buzzing as election day approaches!
*****************************************************************************************
Has your school ever had an election for class officers? Did you think the best girl or guy won? Did you think it was a fair race with the most qualified person winning or was it only a popularity contest? Elections are a subject that you can read more about in the new Cupcakes Club book “Spotlight on The Cupcakes” being released in late October. For the next few weeks–the spotlight will be on YOU and the elections. Ask questions and learn about what’s going on. We want to hear what YOU have to say!

I hear my parents talk about the vote and who will win. At my school there is the student council but not just one president. They are a group of two members from each class-MB both Obama and McCain could work 2gether

Did you see the debates?

we got xtra credit if we watched the VP debates. It’s hard for me to know who’s telling the truth because I don’t know 2 much about their records in voting. If I could vote I would want 2 know more.

In my history class, my teacher made it mandatory for us to either see it on tv or watch it on the web and write about it. I saw most of the debate. I found it amusing.
